Here comes the Renaissance bride. For Spring Summer 2023, co-creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia found their inspiration from their Fall ready-to-wear collection: Florence, Italy; with the city’s many marble-floored palazzi serving as the grounding source of creativity.
Taffeta and silk-faille gowns in grand proportions are highlighted by dramatic billowy sleeves and over-the-top bows. Delicate lace, floral appliqués, and ruffles are gently juxtaposed in both form-fitted and softly ethereal silhouettes.
The collection is punctuated by a true showstopper a multi-layered, couture silk fusion gown, featuring row upon row of faille petals fused and sewn by hand. This bride is traditional and modern at once a contradiction, yes, but one that Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia master with ease.
